Pastor Elizabeth (Liz) Frey grew up in Millersville, PA, and attended a nearby Lutheran church in Lancaster.

As a “church family,” the Freys attended worship every Sunday and participated in many of the ministries. Pastor Liz looks back at that time as foundational to her call to ministry. Her parents were—and continue to be—profound Christian role models in her life.

After graduating in 2011 from Gettysburg College where she studied political science and religion, Pastor Liz participated in the Young Adults in Global Mission program (YAGM), a ministry of the ELCA. She lived in Malaysia for a year, teaching English at a seminary in the city of Kota Kinabalu. It was during this year of service that the Holy Spirit started nudging Pastor Liz toward a call to ministry as she experienced the abounding grace of God in amazing ways.

In the fall of 2014, Pastor Liz started seminary at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. While a seminarian, she served congregations in Chicago and Billings, MT, as well as a senior living facility as a chaplain.

Pastor Liz’s passion for ministry grows out of relationships, getting to know people and hearing their stories.

In her spare time, Pastor Liz loves to stay active, particularly running and swimming. An avid reader, she loves the Harry Potter series. She also loves elephants and cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles.

On May 2, 2020, Kyle Levocz and Pastor Liz were married in the Lancaster church she attended as a child. The global pandemic had upended the original wedding plans, reducing attendance to less than a dozen, but livestream viewers oohed and ahhed their compliments and congratulations throughout. The couple, now living in Camp Hill, will have a story to tell for generations to come.
