A faith milestone is a marker along life’s journey that says, “this is something important and God is here, too.” Marking a milestone is a biblically-based spiritual practice that help all generations recognize God’s presence throughout our lives.
Bible Milestone - September
One of the promises a parent makes at their child’s Baptism is to “place in their hands the Holy Scripture.” At Trinity, we partner with parents to provide Bibles to all children. Trinity gifts a Story Bible to every Kindergartner and a Student Bible to every Confirmation student. Beginning this year, all 5th graders will receive their Student Bible so they can become familiar with it before starting Confirmation classes. To make sure everyone is included, all 5th, 6th, and 7th graders will receive a Bible this year. If you miss the first day of class, please contact Amy Koch, Children’s Ministry Director, or Karen Albert-McFadden, Director of Youth and Student Ministries, to receive yours!
First Communion - March
Our First Communion Class will be held on Saturday, March 28, from 1-3 pm. On this day, children and their parents will learn about and interact with this special meal we share together every Sunday! Then, children will receive their first communion at the worship service of their choice. Children who have already begun to receive communion but have not had instruction are also welcome to attend. Childcare will be provided for children not participating in the class. Click here for more information and to register. Not sure if your child is ready? Email us! or check out this resource from the ELCA.
Graduation Milestone - May
This Milestone gives parents the opportunity to bless their sons and daughters who will soon be stepping into a new stage of life and may be leaving home. Trinity wants to journey with you, and ask for God’s blessing as you walk this important path together with your family. Click here to share your child’s information so that we can recognize them during this milestone celebration.
Blessing of the Backpacks - August
Wear your backpack to the Children’s Message at any of the worship services and receive a special blessing as the new school year begins!
Affirmation of Baptism - October
Fulfilling the vows made for them at baptism, young people in Grades 7 & 8 gather each week, with teachers and small group discussion leaders, to learn about the sacraments, scripture, and how faith plays an important part of our everyday lives and in our journey of discipleship. Classes are held on Sunday mornings throughout the school year.
